The Artist
Wings Mok -- A creator with a mission
"I am just a servant of God. All my art pieces are not done by me, but by our Almighty God, through my hands." As a devoted Christian, she believes that all art forms can be purified tools for the Lord, and the paint brush and the camera are the ones she is gifted to use.
Born and bred in Hong Kong, Wings has always had the passion for the arts. "The hustle and bustle of this economically-booming yet spiritually-draining city dries people up. God-inspired art can nourish their hearts and minds." After having spent years in the mundane commercial world, Wings has seen the dark side behind the fragrant city. However, the tougher the outside is, the sweeter the inside. Not by her strong character, not by the support of any human beings, but by grace. Every time she faces difficulties and unjust, the caring and loving God would listen to her feeble voice in prayers, touch her heart and strengthen her legs.
"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:9) The trials in life are
blessings in disguise. She was called to pick up the paint brush again and share the joy in Christ, be it in times of troubles or smoothness, to the world.
Different from many renowned artists who may graduate from art colleges, Wings, as an English major, took art elective courses in her first degree. She received training afterwards in the certificate course in Fine Arts in which she learnt paintings, sculpture, ceramics, photography, print-making and art history. Not contented with the art forms, she turned from the 2-D canvas to the 4-D black box. She furthered her studies in the Master's degree in Contemporary Theatre Practice at Lancaster University, England.
Wings did not pursue her career in the arts, rather, stepped into the hospitality industry in Singapore and then in Hong Kong. She later attained another Master's degree in Management at Macquarie University, Australia.
"A hotel is like a small community. You will meet
people of different races and cultures, with drastically different behaviours and wants. There is one unique want amongst many, however, that is hidden deep inside all of their hearts -- love.
"I hope that my works of art will be the light that brings hope and love from Jesus Christ to the world that needs Him most.
Finally and most importantly, I give all glory and honour to the Lord, our Saviour!"
